![]() ![]() Quartz sand is used in producing fiberglass, container glass, flat plate glass, and specialty glass. Quartz crystals are used in creating radios, transistors, microphones, digital watches, computer chips, and electric guitars. Today, the mineral remains to be an indispensable component in creating electronic devices due to its ability to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy. In ancient Egypt, the mineral was an important material in making beads, amulets, impression seals, and various jewelry pieces. They may have also used it as a stamp for producing written impressions in clay. The Sumerians fashioned quartz into cylinder seals and ring seals. The use of quartz traces back to ancient times. The name quartz comes from the old German word querkluftertz meaning cross-vein ore. The name was first used in 1530 by Georgius Agricola, the father of mineralogy.Īncient Greeks and Romans referred to quartz crystals as krustallos meaning ice. They believed that the mineral was ice that never melted because it was created by the gods themselves. Tangerine quartz was named after its colour which can vary from red to orange. It easily forms rounded or shell-like conchoidal fractures when subjected to impact This is why quartz crystals naturally have marks or grooves on their surface. The crystal may be durable but it's also very brittle. Unlike other minerals that dissolve in weaker acids, quartz is only soluble in hydrofluoric acid. It remains very stable even when exposed to extreme temperatures and harsh chemicals. ![]() Quartz has a Mohs hardness rating of 7 making it a highly durable mineral. Tangerine quartz specimens can be light yellow to a deep rusty orange (almost the colour red). As it precipitates, hematite creates a rusty coating inside or on the surface of the clear quartz crystal. What gives the crystal its red to orange colour? This colouration is the result of the mineral hematite being encrusted in the quartz crystal.Īs an iron stone, hematite rusts when combined with water. ![]() Naturally occurring tangerine quartz is a silicon dioxide mineral and a variety of quartz. The Physical Properties of Tangerine Quartz As such, they are particularly elevated wands or lasers, and are prized highly among the many many Quartz varieties. They are not those beings – or stand-ins for those beings – they are literally the position or stature embodied. Lemurian Quartz is among a very few clear Quartzes that are not simply considered Channel stones, but rather they are Source Energy Zone stones, because they represent higher roles, the mantle, or responsibility of elevated beings. ![]() See our popular blog on Lemurians on our website. A qualifying piece – unlike most on the market – must have more than one of these qualities. Some we call 3-sided, 4-sided, stylus points, etc. Lemurian Quartzes can be identified by these key factors: the point, ridges and alternating siding (both in form and frostiness vs clarity), and extra faces. Perfect as a precision wand, 3rd eye piece, or to be made into a pendant. The smaller point is irregular, and its facet looks like record keeper. As you may know – Lemurian DT’s are rare – a nice pale Tangerine (orange tinged), darker at the points is VERY unusual. All natural, no polishing, which can be unusual with Lemurians. ![]()

![]() ![]() Below are a number of real-life examples where ommetaphobia may come into play: The fear of eyes can affect your daily living as well as impact your relationships. This paranoia leads them to extreme measures, such as wearing sunglasses or covering up the eyes at all times as a way of protecting them. Sufferers of this phobia might also have an intense fear of losing their eyes and not being able to function without them. This explains why many sufferers of the disorder are usually adults or children who have witnessed an eye accident or brutal eye injury. Ommetaphobia triggers could be related to a strong fear of mutilation or injury. While the thought of experiencing fear related to an important body part may sound irrational, for sufferers of ommetaphobia, the turmoil they feel is overwhelming and very real. ![]() To overcome this, let’s first try to understand the underlying reason for your ommetaphobia and begin to address it. It is a rare but very real disorder that leads to serious physiological and psychological symptoms like other phobias. Ommetaphobia is an extreme fear of the eyes, either human or animal. Let’s find out more about this curious disorder.ĭid you have a frightening experience with eyes as a child? Did you see someone’s eye fall out? Did you perhaps watch a scary movie that involved eyes? Or perhaps you had an eye accident yourself that scared you. ![]() But if you answered yes to any of them, you may have a rare condition called ommetaphobia. Most may find these questions out of the ordinary. Have you or someone else you know had an eye accident? Do you have a parent or relative who is also terrified of any situation involving the eyes? How did this phobia develop? Well, perhaps you had a traumatic experience involving the eyes when you were a child. Something as simple as a photo of an eye may leave you screaming or struggling for breath. Seeing a pair of eyes, staring into them (or being stared at), touching them, or even reading about the eyes could trigger the condition. If you have a fear of eyes, you have no desire to look at them. ![]() ![]() ![]() The organizational structure you choose depends on the nature of the topic, your purpose, and your audience. According to individual points, discussing each subject in relation to each point.According to the subjects themselves, discussing one then the other. You may organize compare-and-contrast essays in one of the following two ways: Here the thesis sets up the two subjects to be compared and contrasted (organic versus conventional vegetables), and it makes a claim about the results that might prove useful to the reader. Thesis Statement: Organic vegetables may cost more than those that are conventionally grown, but when put to the test, they are definitely worth every extra penny. Take the following thesis as an example that leans more toward contrasting: Remember, the point of comparing and contrasting is to provide useful knowledge to the reader. The thesis could lean more toward comparing, contrasting, or both. The compare-and-contrast essay starts with a thesis that clearly states the two subjects that are to be compared, contrasted, or both and the reason for doing so. The Structure of a Compare/Contrast Essay The more divergent the two subjects initially seem, the more interesting a comparison essay will be. Rather, you might try to compare how apples and oranges are quite similar. For a comparison essay, you likely would not choose two apples or two oranges because they share so many of the same properties already. Similarly, to focus on comparison, choose two subjects that seem at first to be unrelated. Drawing distinctions between elements in a similar category will increase the audience’s understanding of that category, which is the purpose of the compare-and-contrast essay. For example, Red Delicious apples are sweet, while Granny Smiths are tart and acidic. For example, if you wanted to focus on contrasting two subjects you would not pick apples and oranges rather, you might choose to compare and contrast two types of oranges or two types of apples to highlight subtle differences. ![]() The purpose of conducting the comparison or contrast is not to state the obvious but rather to illuminate subtle differences or unexpected similarities. The key to a good compare-and-contrast essay is to choose two or more subjects that connect in a meaningful way. A compare-and-contrast essay, then, analyzes two subjects by comparing them, contrasting them, or both. Director Andy Muschetti (Mama) is helming the exciting adaptation that’s hitting theaters next Fall. But now over 25 years removed, the novel has been given a rebirth. The part of the series that was the most celebrated was the incredible performance by Tim Curry as the notorious Pennywise The Clown. While the series was short-lived, it has since gone on to become a beloved cult favorite. The book did already receive a semi-worthy adaptation in the form of a TV-miniseries that aired back in 1990. The 1000-plus page novel tells the horrifying tale of a disturbed clown that hunts down a group of childhood friends. In any case, if you have suffered a loss due to a breach in contract you should immediately contact an experienced corporate attorney with the guidance and experience necessary to ensure that your interests are covered and that you are able to make things right. If the breach was material then your attorney may advise you that you file a lawsuit at any time to recover damages and that you may be excused from performing your part of the contract. For a non-material breach, an attorney may advise you that you must continue to perform your part of the contract but can sue for damages that were caused by the non-material breach. ![]() So then, what can you do if the other party in a contract commits breach? For either type of breach you should consult with an experienced commercial litigation attorney. What can a business owner do in the event of a breach of contract? Therefore, the business that has been harmed by the breach can only seek damages, not criminal charges. It is important to know that breach of contract itself is not considered a criminal offense. If a breach of contract has occurred, you may feel that you have been cheated or wronged. This is a material breach because the defect in the performance of the agreement goes to the performance, durability, and safety of the electrical system itself, or “heart of the matter”. However, to save money on materials, the contractor uses aluminum wiring which is more prone to failure and requires additional care if future work on the electrical system is performed. If we go back to our example of the homeowner and electrician, let’s assume that the agreement was to install copper wiring due to its greater reliability and durability. A material breach negatively affects the value of the contract and considered a failure to perform an essential element of the contract. Furthermore the deviation in color isn’t even visible since the wires are hidden within the walls of the home.Ī material breach would be considered as a more serious form of breaking a contract. Although the color of the insulation on the wire is different this is merely a minor deviation as the color does not impact the functionality of the wire. This is a non-material breach because it does not go to the heart of the contract. For example, a non-material breach would occur if a homeowner and an electrician agreed to have the electrician wire the home using a type of yellow wire but the electrician ended up using blue wire. ![]() A non-material breach is one which pertains to a minor or ancillary detail of the contract. ![]() A non-material breach is the less serious of the two. Your ability to enforce the contract or receive compensation will depend on whether there was a breach of the contract and the type of breach.Ī breach of contract can be considered as either ‘material’ or ‘non-material’. If there is a contract in place and a business owner is faced with a situation where the other end of an agreement was not honored, there are options available to either enforce the contract or receive compensation for any losses. Sometimes a business relationship doesn’t quite work out as you intended. ![]() ![]() ![]() Notable modular paperfolders include Robert Neale, Sonobe, Tomoko Fuse, Kunihiko Kasahara, Tom Hull, Heinz Strobl and Ekaterina Lukasheva. Since then, the modular origami technique has been popularized and developed extensively, and now there have been thousands of designs developed in this repertoire. One notable figure is Steve Krimball, who discovered the potential in Sonobe's cube unit and demonstrated that it could be used to make alternative polyhedral shapes, including a 30-piece ball. The 1970s saw a sudden period of interest and development in modular origami as its own distinct field, leading to its present status in origami folding. Most traditional designs are however single-piece and the possibilities inherent in the modular origami idea were not explored further until the 1960s when the technique was re-invented by Robert Neale in the US and later by Mitsunobu Sonobe in Japan. There are also a few modular designs in the Chinese paperfolding tradition, notably the pagoda (from Maying Soong) and the lotus made from Joss paper. ![]() The term kusudama is sometimes, rather inaccurately, used to describe any three-dimensional modular origami structure resembling a ball. These designs are not integrated and are commonly strung together with thread. There are several other traditional Japanese modular designs, including balls of folded paper flowers known as kusudama, or medicine balls. ![]() Each module forms one face of the finished cube. The six modules required for this design were developed from the traditional Japanese paperfold commonly known as the menko. Isao Honda's World of Origami (published in 1965) appears to have the same model, where it is called a "cubical box". The cube is pictured twice (from slightly different angles) and is identified in the accompanying text as a tamatebako (magic treasure chest). It contains a print that shows a group of traditional origami models, one of which is a modular cube. The first historical evidence for a modular origami design comes from a Japanese book by Hayato Ohoka published in 1734 called Ranma Zushiki. ![]() History A kusudama, the traditional Japanese precursor to modular origami Any other usage is generally discouraged. Typically this means using separate linking units hidden from sight to hold parts of the construction together. More than one type of module can still be used. There is a common misconception that treats all multi-piece origami as modular. The additional restrictions that distinguish modular origami from other forms of multi-piece origami are using many identical copies of any folded unit, and linking them together in a symmetrical or repeating fashion to complete the model. However, all the other rules of origami still apply, so the use of glue, thread, or any other fastening that is not a part of the sheet of paper is not generally acceptable in modular origami. Modular origami can be classified as a sub-set of multi-piece origami, since the rule of restriction to one sheet of paper is abandoned. These insertions create tension or friction that holds the model together.ĭefinition and restrictions Examples of modular origami made up of Sonobe units Modular origami or unit origami is a two-stage paper folding technique in which several, or sometimes many, sheets of paper are first folded into individual modules or units and then assembled into an integrated flat shape or three-dimensional structure, usually by inserting flaps into pockets created by the folding process.
